Our Family
Our nursery began from our home, as a childminder and parent having worked with children for over 12 years I began to dream about extending my passion. Taking on the empty building with my husband (primary teacher and director of the company) allowed us to start from scratch knocking down walls and building the nursery exactly as we wanted. Having worked from home the family atmosphere was at the forefront of our minds.

So we decided to have one small open plan room that although separated into different areas for 0-2’s and 2-5’s with our after school club upstairs it would allow us to operate as one big family. Where the children can learn not only from the amazing staff but from each other too.

We spent 6 months getting the building ready so it was exactly how we wanted, with a separate kitchen to prepare home cooked meals. A sensory and sleep room for all the children to access and the room divided by the furniture to allow all the children and staff to see each other and interact, sharing special times like meal times together.

So on the 25 February 2017 Little Rainbows opened its doors, so far it has grown from strength to strength with a current total of 117 Early Years and Out of School Club children on role. The staff are committed to developing nursery and providing a warm, safe family environment hosting regular events such as Stay and Play sessions, visits to our local nursing home, charity fundraising events and much more....
I cant wait to see what the next chapter of our adventure looks like....
6 Years on....
Our nursery has grown from strength to strength. We have revisited the layout of our room and garden several times reflecting on the needs of our families and children.
We have developed a sensory area to support all our children; which has been a big success and has helped to provide a calm nurturing environment for all our children. We now run a monthly Stay and Play session on the 2nd Saturday of every month for families both from nursery and the local community to access.
Like everyone, we have had some significant milestones to over-come, supporting children and families through COVID, having had significant damage caused to our building and part of the building been re-built and finding our way through the significant pressures of the declining economy. However, we are proud to say we are still going strong, supporting our families, local community and team.
We ae continually developing our community links and holding events such as raffles and coffee mornings and many more.. The generosity and community and family feel that flows through nursery is amazing.
Each year we visit our local nursing home at Christmas to bring a little bit of the Christmas magic, the children and adults alike benefit so much for the intergenerational links.
Our Garden is growing strong every year, with vegetable planters at the front of the building as well as in the main nursery Garden.
We had our first Ofsted rating and were rated 'Good' we are thrilled; as a young developing nursery we understand the need to reflect and improve and staff strive to learn continually.
The list of things we could talk about is endless and we are so proud of what our nursery and team has achieved.
We have now proudly seen 6 Generations of Children blossom and start their next big adventure in School. This year we prepare generation number 7 for their next big step in life with pride and confidence in themselves....
